If there's one universal invention that I am most grateful of, it would be the m o u s e. My tasks turned out to be surprisingly easy when I could click-and-scroll in one hand and write on the other. And while the fingers are trained gradually to the repetitive mundane work I began to multi-task.. to which I found my job completed effortlessly in a flash.
I never wanted to be a left-hander, especially when everyone else in my family writes on the right. What's with all the "oh you're a left-hander so you must be really clever and creative coz many famous people are all left-handers." COME ON.. just because a few smart ass who appear as black dots on a white paper can pick up a pen and write on the left doesnt mean it applies to everyone else.
I'm sure some people share similar sentiments when it comes to the inconvenience posed to a leftie. It is very troublesome to be one - almost feels like a handicap. It makes even the simplest task tricky. When it comes to buying writing pads, I had to make sure that the paper material is sufficiently absorbable to dry the ink quickly, so that no ink stains will be left on the side of the palm when it presses against the word amost immediately after.
And then there's the particular fussiness about buying an ink pen instead of a ballpoint just because I love the clearcleanshapes that the words would form, which makes things all the more problematic.
Of course, the worst culprit would undoubtly be the liquid paper. Imagine coming out of the exam hall with smears of white (mixed with black) all over the side of the palm - a taxing process to hide in the toilet for ages just to clean them off.
I used to be envious at how right-handers would be at a better advantage to be writing in a way such that the hands can flow with the words naturally and smoothly, pulling the pen along the paper to form every letter, rather than pushing them across - and without all the other hassles that the leftie experiences.
So it was god-sent to have the mouse invented - a staple for all computers, which are slowly replacing paperwork. Perhaps that's how the Mighty Mouse came about. And with some training of the right-hand muscles, although I still fail to be ambidextrious after several atempts to write on the other hand, I am discreetly proud of being an ambidextrious pen-spinner. Perhaps being a leftie is not that bad after all.
I am pretty sure that fatty is going to be a leftie too.. I miss u, fatty.. since the day you left with daddy.
